Top Tips for Getting Your Awning Spring Ready!

Caravan with Awning

As the nice weather starts to make an appearance now is the perfect time to get ready to hit the road again. To help you get the most out of this caravan and motorhome season, we have brought together some tips on how to get your awning spring ready.

Tip 1

Before embarking on your trip, it’s important to ensure you check the pegging rubbers on your awning as these may need replacing if damaged.

Tip 2

It might’ve been a while since you went on your last caravan or motorhome adventure so it’s a great idea to check that all the frames are intact. It’s a good idea to make these checks in advance because if a pole is damaged or missing it will allow you enough time to find the exact pole that’s needed.

Tip 3

Stability is key! Making sure that the awning poles are positioned correctly will help to correctly drain off any unexpected rainwater.

Tip 4

Keeping the awning correctly tensioned is important as this will prevent any water from collecting on the surface.

Tip 5

Although we are hoping to receive clear and sunny skies, it’s a good idea to be prepared for all types of weather by storm-proofing your awning to keep it stable during unexpected windy or stormy conditions. When doing this it’s also important to check the manufacturer’s recommendations for the awning you have as some are designed for specific weather conditions.

Tip 6

It’s recommended to regularly reproof your awning – ideally every season. Smaller areas can be treated with an aerosol proofer, whereas larger areas should be applied with a soft paintbrush – this should be done when the awning is dry.

The Sahara Challenge

We would like to say a huge congratulations to the Bailey of Bristol team for completing The Sahara Challenge. The challenge involved the team travelling in Bailey caravans and motorhomes where they would complete 2,735 miles across Europe and Africa in just 19 days.

It was amazing to follow the progress made over the 19 days of travelling and was wonderful to see the places you can travel in a caravan or motorhome outside the UK.
