Top Tips For the NEW Season
As the Spring weather should soon be due to make an appearance, it’s the perfect time to get ready to hit the road again. To help you get the most out of this season, we have put together some handy tips to ensure you get the most of your vehicle.
Tips For Caravans & Motorhomes
1
Before embarking on your trip, it’s important to check your tyres on your caravan or motorhome. Especially if you haven’t been anywhere over the winter months!
2
Checking your lights is necessary before setting off on your next adventure, along with reconnecting and testing your leisure battery. Check that your leisure battery has some charge and is in good condition. If you removed your leisure battery before storing your caravan or motorhome for the winter, test the battery by trying the interior lights and the water pump.
3
As part of the process of storing your caravan or motorhome for the winter, you will have drained down the water system to prevent any liquid freezing and causing damage to your water systems. If you have a water filter fitted to your freshwater supply system, now is a great opportunity to replace it.
4
Spring cleaning! Maintaining a clean Caravan or Motorhome inside and out is essential to reducing the build up of dirt that can damage your vehicle.
5
Getting your motorhome serviced regularly can reduce the chances of any issues resurfacing. With the new season beginning now is the best time to book a service, if you’re thinking of booking in please contact our service centre on 01772 622 244 or email [email protected].
Tips For Awnings
1
If you’re taking an awning on your travels this season it’s a great idea to check that all the frames are intact. It’s a good idea to make these checks in advance because if a pole is damaged or missing it will allow you enough time to find the exact pole that’s needed.
2
If you’re extending your Caravan or Motorhome with an awning, it’s important to remember that the awning poles are positioned correctly and will help to correctly drain off any unexpected rainwater.
3
Although we are hoping for clear and sunny skies, it’s never a guarantee so it’s a good idea to be prepared for all types of weather. It may be beneficial to storm-proof your awning to keep it stable during unexpected windy or stormy conditions. When doing this it’s also important to check the manufacturer’s recommendations for the awning you have as some are designed for specific weather conditions.
4
It’s recommended to regularly reproof your awning – ideally every season. Smaller areas can be treated with an aerosol proofer, whereas larger areas should be applied with a soft paintbrush – this should be done when the awning is dry.
5
Before heading out on your trip, it’s important to ensure you check the pegging rubbers on your awning as these may need replacing if damaged.
